Australia will once again allow foreign visa-holders to enter the country from Feb 21st, ending two years of strict international border controls introduced to stem the spread of Covid-19.

However, they must be double vaccinated against Covid-19.

“The condition is you must be double vaccinated to come to Australia. That’s the rule. Everyone is expected to abide by it,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison stated.

Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews added, “To be clear, we are absolutely welcoming back fully vaccinated visa holders. For those who are not vaccinated, they will have to provide proof that there is a medical reason that they cannot be vaccinated.”.  Unvaccinated travellers will have to apply for an exemption and undergo hotel quarantine.

It was noted (presumably in relation to Novak Djokovic’s visa debacle) that even if you have the right visa, you still need to be double vaccinated.

“I think events earlier in the year should have sent a very clear message to everyone around the world that (that) is the requirement to enter into Australia,” he said.
