From today, Tuesday 23 May 2023, Jetstar customers flying within Australia and New Zealand must check-in and drop off their bags at least 40 minutes before their domestic flight departs.
International travelers must complete check-in and bag drop 60 minutes prior to departure.
Boarding gates for both domestic and international flights will close 20 minutes before takeoff.
These changes aim to improve Jetstar’s on-time performance. Communication of the new check-in times will be done through email, text messages, the Jetstar website, and terminal signage. These adjustments align Jetstar with other low-cost carriers globally and signify the airline’s commitment to punctuality and reliability. In addition to revised check-in procedures, Jetstar is investing in new advanced aircraft, with the eighth Airbus A321neo LR joining the fleet soon and 10 more expected to arrive by next year. The airline is also increasing staff in customer service, engineering, and operational roles, as well as upgrading systems and processes. Jetstar’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt Franzi, has emphasized the airline’s dedication to improvement, stating that these initiatives, along with the introduction of efficient aircraft and strategic operational changes, will significantly enhance overall performance.
